ABOUT YOUTH & GENDER NETWORK:
Youth & Gender network is a non-ethnic, non-profit,
and non-governmental organization. The vision started as a passion to
drive youths to discover their potentials, pursue worthy courses, and
adopt positive values. The organization was officially registered with
the Corporate Affairs Commission Abuja in June 2004. Its
Aims and objectives include:
To help in the abatement of juvenile crimes and vices in Nigeria by embarking on programmes geared at moulding youths early in life to become positive and progressive individuals.
To carry out awareness campaigns and engage in activities aimed at creating a gender-sensitive society where female folk are given equal opportunity for advancement and positive development
To undertake programmes and activities aimed at empowering youths to maximize their earning potentials with a view to combating poverty, unemployment and poor performance in working class youths.
To help minimize the vulnerability of youths and women to sexual harassment, abuse, and deadly diseases such as HIV/AIDs.
To provide counselling and support programmes for youths and women in a variety of areas including sexuality, morals, patriotism, relationships, emotions, career, academics, health and any other subject beneficial to their well being and development.
To establish appropriate forum for social and intellectual discourse, interaction, networking and competition amongst youths and women, whilst also motivating and rewarding outstanding efforts.
To conduct research into issues affecting youths and gender development in Nigeria, whilst also maintaining a library for youths and women to develop their mental capacity and improve their literacy level.
To organize forums for parents to learn appropriate parenting ethics which will in turn help them to raise sensible, well-adjusted and responsible children.
To collaborate with organizations and associations with similar aims and objectives, and engage in other such activities considered necessary for the achievement of these aims and objectives.
